Designs

This page is an example of quiet because of the light

color of the word, the spaced out letters, the small size,

the position in the corner of the paper, and 

the italicized letters. 

This page is an example of loud because of the thickness

of the letters, the bright colors, the spotlight on the word,

the large size of the letters, and the thick outlines.

This page is an example of active because of the blurred letters,

the shape the words form, the different positions of the words on 

the page, the different size of the words, and the gradient

throughout the words. 

This page is an example of stable because of the straight line

the word is on, the similar colors throughout the page,

the same lettering, similar size in letters, and how the word

divides the page evenly in half. 

This page is an example of color because of the gradient

of colors in the background, the colorful design on the letters,

the similar pastel colors throughout the page, the 3-D

emphasis on the word, and the large size of the letters.

This page is an example of white on black because

the word white is literally on the word black, there

is a black and white gradient covering the page,

the word white is emphasized by an outline, the words are 

the same font and placed in the middle of the page, 

and the dots in the background emphasize the two words.

This page is an example of camo because of the identical pattern

on the letters and background, the blurred vision of certain letters,

the changed direction of the pattern on the letters, the similar colors

of the word and the background, and the soft font of the word.

This page is an example of implied because of the font of the word,

the softness of the letters, the similar colors, the positioning of the word,

and the blurred vision of the word.

Squares

This design shows five 1 inch squares that are

falling from a large clump of squares not seen in the picture.

This design shows five 1.5 inch squares that display a

pattern on a ball that is protruding outwards.

This design shows five 3 inch squares that create white

logs moving through the black darkness.

This design shows five five inch squares that create

a door and a window in the empty space.

David Carson Designs

The negative space in this image helps to create

the overall image of a pepsi bottle.

This negative space helps to flow three different images

into one larger one.

The positive space in this picture creates

pleasing colors and shapes throughout the design.

Design Book

The focal point in this piece is the title "Lines" because it stands out

from everything else due to its' size. I created this image by using 

variety, gradients, and text throughout the page.

The focal point in this piece is the seven because it is a lighter

color, and larger then everything else. I created this page by placing

numerous numbers and values on top of each other until a design was formed. 

The focal point in this piece is the star because

it is the only shape with a pattern design.

Also, it has many shapes leading in to it.

I made this image by using gradients, shapes, and blends. 

The focal point in this piece is the black swirl because

of its' dark color and size compared to the other shapes.

There are also numerous shapes leading up to it. I created this 

image by making a variety of shapes that had different

values and colors.

The focal point in this piece is the white empty space 

because it isn't black or grey like the rest of the piece.

I made this piece by layering boxes with patterns 

until a page that resembled a quilt was formed. 

The focal point in this piece is the large blue square on

the right side of the page because it is larger then all the other 

squares, and arranged differently on the grid. I created this 

image by making numerous squares

to form a grid. Then I used patterns and colors to fill the grid.
